Overview

As the sole designer, I collaborated closely with the Product Owner, Head of Product, and Engineers. To meet our timeline, I adopted a phased approach, breaking the project into manageable functions and rigorously testing the beta version. Our challenge was transforming an outdated and user-unfriendly web app. Notably, our efforts not only significantly improved SEO rankings but also boosted transaction volumes for both sellers and buyers.

Problem Statements & The Goals

- The problem at hand pertains to the current web-based application's outdated and unfriendly user experience. Our primary challenge is adhering to a tight timeline, ensuring we deliver as promised in conjunction with Carousell.

- Our goals include revamping and launching a new application that offers users a significantly improved and more user-friendly experience for buying and selling.

Research

- Quantitative Research: Extracting crucial insights through user surveys, leveraging our existing community group on Discord by offering incentives such as coupons.

- Qualitative Research: Interview target users, top sellers, and top buyers using prepared questions.

Definition

- Following our research, we've defined our user persona as youthful, fashion-conscious individuals who prioritize staying up-to-date with the latest streetwear trends. When it comes to buyers, their primary concerns revolve around popular daily-updated collections, celebrity endorsements, and securing the lowest possible prices.

- Sellers, on the other hand, are focused on top-selling collections, their most recent transactions, and strategies for maximizing resale value while minimizing costs.

As of 31 Jan 2022, the total number of active Used sneakers listings across Men’s Sneakers + Women’s Sneakers + Luxury Sneakers in Carousell is ~114,000 listings. We want to unlock Used as a category to drive liquidity on the platform, it is a big segment in the sneakers and collectibles category. However, one of the biggest problems in this area is to guarantee the authenticity of the item. This is where Ox Street’s value proposition is in. We want to enable verified buying and selling of secondhand sneakers, which will be unique in Asia.
